Membership
Information
There are several types of
membership available, as follows:
Regular Member - The
members of any Police Services Board in the Province of Ontario, having
responsibility for the governing of a municipal police force under Section
31 of the Act or for the governing of a contract with the Ontario Provincial
Police under Section 10 of the Act, shall be eligible for membership in
the OAPSB.
Affiliate Member
- Affiliate membership in the OAPSB may be granted by the Board of Directors
to persons or businesses providing or representing providers of products
or services used by Police Services Boards, who are not eligible for Regular
membership. An Affiliate member shall have all the rights and privileges
of Regular membership, save and except voting and/or the right to hold
office in the OAPSB.
Associate Member
- Associate membership in the OAPSB may be granted by the Board of Directors
to any person not eligible for Regular membership who is engaged in police,
other law enforcement, municipal, governance or related activities, providing
that such person is not prohibited from being a member of a Police Services
Board under Section 27 (13) of the Act. An Associate member shall have
all the rights and privileges of Regular membership, save and except voting
and/or the right to hold office in the OAPSB.
Life Member -
The Board of Directors may, from time to time, confer upon a member or
former member of a Police Services Board, Life Membership in the OAPSB
in recognition of his/her dedication and commitment to the betterment
of police services boards in the Province of Ontario, upon such terms
and conditions as the Board of Directors may determine. Life Members shall
have all the rights and privileges of Regular membership, save and except
voting and/or the right to hold office in the OAPSB.
Honourary Member
- Honourary membership may be conferred upon any person whom the Board
of Directors deems worthy as a result of their significant contributions
to the OAPSB. This person need not have been a regular member. Honourary
Members will not have the right to vote and/or the right to hold office
in the OAPSB and there will be no membership fee. It is strictly be a
membership of recognition.
For each of Regular Member, Affiliate Member and Associate Member, there
are membership fees payable to the OAPSB on an annual basis. If you or
