Constable Joe MacDonald Public Safety Officers’ Survivors Scholarship Fund – Advertisement for Submissions to the Scholarship Fund – 2006/2007
The Constable Joe MacDonald Public Safety Officers’ Survivors Scholarship Fund (PSOSSF) provides scholarships for spouses and children of public safety officers who died in the line of duty. PSOSSF pays tuition, books and covers living and accommodation expenses.
The PSOSSF recognizes the tremendous sacrifice made by our public safety officers and their families to keep Ontario safe. It is a demonstration of the esteem that the people of Ontario have for the public safety officers who have fallen in the line of duty. To-date, the fund has financially assisted twenty-eight (28) recipients with their post-secondary education.
For the purpose of this fund, public safety officers are defined as: all municipal, provincial or First Nation police officers, auxiliary members or special constables as defined in the Police Services Act, all firefighters, including professionals and volunteers; and all correctional officers, probation, parole officers and youth workers.
Application forms and information on eligibility for this scholarship are available and each year there is a deadline for applications to be submitted. This year the due date for the submission of applications is July 17, 2006 . For additional information, please contact Ms. Anna Deane, Community Safety Analyst, at (416) 212-3557.
